Duncan's work in the Telco sector has extended globally working with Vodacom and MTN in South Africa, Bharti Airtel in India and AAPT and Crazy John’s in Australia. Before the calling to return to Australia grew louder Duncan was appointed EVP EMEA in 2007 for The Resource Group based in London working in mergers, acquisitions and operations.
In 2004 gamekeeper became poacher, moving to Merchants as COO, one of the UK’s largest outsourcers and part of the Dimension Data Group. Responsibility included the consultancy practice, helping to establish off-shore presence for major UK blue chips including Asda and Carphone Warehouse, as well as operational responsiblity for clients such as NAB, ABN Amro and AOL.
Prior to this Duncan saw the start of the Millennium in the UK as a member of the UK Board for BT Cellnet leading to involvement in the IPO that led to the creation of O2, becoming Pan-European Chair for Service with over 9,000 seats, moved to Tokyo in 1997 as part of the launch team establishing the first direct insurance channels for AIG and in 1992 worked in the UK with Domestic & General, GRE and Flemings setting up large-scale contact centres for both personal and general insurance lines, throughout Europe and South Africa.
Duncan has followed a varied and colourful career initially graduating as a professional conductor from the University of Surrey in 1982 and studies at the Royal College of Music, Princeton and Juliard, pursuing musical career performing with West End productions, orchestras and as a session musician. This led to work in arts administration including the Adelaide Festival throughout the 1980’s.
Involvement in corporate sponsorship for the arts convinced him to undertake an MBA at the University of Adelaide, courtesy of a Rotary Fellowship. This led to more broad based corporate endeavours setting up his own consultancy specialising in Inward Investment to Australia and his first forays into direct channel marketing.
Duncan is married to Jennie with four children Jessica (25) Matthew (21) Caitlin (14) and Sam (13).
